This has been coming for the past decade but the speed of change is gathering momentum. Such a change comes with challenges and opportunities for global shipping companies. On top of that, gradual changes in climate is amplifying naturally occuring problems such as storm and droughts creating added problems in shallow waterways and canals. The focus for shipping companies should not be how to mitigate or “survive” such changes as if they were temporary problems. The focus should be how to create a successful business in a world where this is the norm.\nSpeaker: Lars Jensen, leading expert in the container shipping industry\nIn 2026 Lars Jensen has been in container shipping for 25 years. He is a well-known thought leader in the industry, providing more than 174,000 followers on LinkedIn with daily insights on the most important developments in the industry.\nIn 2026-27 Lars will be driving through Africa to assess and report on the supply chain opportunities in the continent.\nLars began his career by doing a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics and then switched track to apply his skills within the container shipping sector. Initially as Chief Analyst for Maersk Line, but since 2011 as an independent analyst and consultant in the industry as CEO of Vespucci Maritime.\nIn addition to container shipping analysis, Lars has also been involved in launching a range of other ventures in the shipping industry. Notably LinerGame which is a training and simulation game where participants use vessels and containers made from LEGO bricks to operate a container line.\n\n\n\n
